Unsafe at MIT
by Yossi Sheffi
Unsafe at MIT is the untold story of academic collapse and abandonment by university leadership that led to the discrimination, public shaming, and harassment of dozens of elite American Jewish and Israeli scientists at the world-renowned institution of MIT. In this explosive book, Yossi Sheffi—an internationally renowned, tenured MIT professor, highly successful tech entrepreneur, and author—shatters the silence surrounding the systematic failure of elite higher education. Based on dozens of raw and harrowing, interviews with students, post-docs, and faculty, the book provides an unvarnished historical record of how one of the world’s most prestigious institutions abandoned its own standards, turned a blind eye to targeted intimidation, and allowed its campus to be hijacked by ideological hostility to masquerade as “free expression”. Sheffi’s work reveals that the hostile environment and administrative abdication ultimately drove one faculty member and more than a dozen promising Jewish-American students out of MIT entirely, forcing them to abandon their research, their labs, and their academic careers. Ultimately, Unsafe at MIT is a vital, cautionary warning serving as both an essential historical record and a wake-up call for the future of academic freedom, institutional leadership, and safety for all.
